
Bobby Russell – DJ/Owner
Prior to becoming Sedona’s Premier Wedding DJ, Bobby Russell was a professional drummer in the band Something Blue playing 300+ shows a year throughout Northern Arizona, as well as playing the “quads” in the college marching band and drum set in the NAU Jazz Band, all while studying Business Law at Northern Arizona University.
After transferring to Arizona State University in the early ’90s, Bobby worked several jobs while attaining his Bachelor of Music degree in Percussion and Music Therapy. He was an audio engineer for the popular radio station 107.9 KMLE setting up remote broadcasts all around the greater Phoenix area. He worked as an Activity Coordinator for disabled adults, children with Autism and developmental disabilities, along with geriatric patients with dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease.
While attending ASU, Bobby Russell performed in the percussion section of the Symphonic Orchestra. He was a member of the Modern Percussion Ensemble which performed at the P.A.S.I.C. convention in Los Angeles, as well as a member of the African Drum Ensemble, Marimba Ensemble, Steel Drum Ensemble and played drums for the African Dance Studio sitting next to “Uncle” C.K.
Bobby took off after graduating to travel to Hong Kong and taught English in Taiwan for a year while he waited for his 6 month Music Therapy internship to begin in Delaware at the Stokley Center for Adults with Severe & Profound Mental Disabilities. After completing his internship he worked as a full-time Music Therapist playing his guitar, singing popular American songs from the early 1900’s and leading thousands of Music Therapy sessions utilizing music as a therapeutic tool for healing.
