Answers:

1) How long have you been a Disc Jockey?
1) I have been a professional Disc Jockey since 1999.

2) Why did you become a DJ?
2) I started to “DJ” parties for my friends when they got married in the mid ‘90s because I had the largest collection of music of anyone they knew. Plus, I could make their ceremony extra special by playing live acoustic guitar, too!

3) What is your musical background?
3) I have an extensive musical background beginning when I was two years old in 1970, when it was my dream to play drums in a marching band to graduating from college with a Bachelors of Music in 1993. During those 23 years I performed in countless ensembles, orchestras, professional bands, and performing groups. While in college I gained a lot of experience working for the local radio station KMLE.

4) What is the best way to plan the music for my wedding?
4) The best way to plan your music is with the “Plan Your Music” feature on my website. It is found by scrolling to the bottom of the “Weddings” page at www.sedonasounds.com and selecting the “Plan Your Music” tab. Notes for each song (i.e. First Dance Song, Father/Daughter, Mother/Son, special dedication to …, when or why that song is to be played), may be added by selecting the blue “Note” tab next to the song once it has been selected. (Click here to plan your music now!)

5) How many songs should I pick?
5) On an average I play about 20 songs per hour. You may select as many songs as you want, but please don’t feel like you have to pick songs for the entire night. If a song is very important to you and you really want to be sure it is played, you may designate it as a “Must Play” in the online database.

6) What if I have particular songs that I absolutely don’t want to hear no matter who asks for them?
6) No Problem! I strictly follow a “Do Not Play” list at every wedding. You may also designate these songs as “Do Not Play” with my online database.

7) Can I select songs that you don’t have in your online database?
7) Yes, simply input your song and artist as a “Custom Song” in my online database. Please customize your list as much as you desire! I will supply all of your requests, free of charge, during your wedding. If I am unable to find them because they are out-of-print, or extremely rare, I will let you know and you will have the option to supply them ahead of time, or on the day of.

9) Is “tipping”, or gratuities, included in your DJ package?
9) I do not include gratuities in your contract agreement. If you feel my service is above and beyond your expectations and you want to “tip” me, it would be warmly appreciated.

10) Why are you so expensive?
10) Although it may appear I am more expensive than other “local” Disc Jockeys in Sedona, my rate is actually the same as the average DJ who is a member of the Arizona Disc Jockey Association.

11) What is included in your service at no extra cost to me?
11) Included in my service at no extra cost to you is: multiple planning meetings in person, over the phone, or through email, live guitar for the ceremony, up to three independent sound systems (Ceremony Site, Cocktail Site, and Ballroom Site), professional wireless lapel and handheld microphones for your ceremony and toasts, dance lights, Master of Ceremony services, set-up, tear-down, and many intangibles like my extensive wedding experience and my passion to be the best.

12) Why should I hire you to be my DJ when I could just bring an iPod filled with my favorite songs?
12) Your iPod is unable “Read the Crowd” and adjust to what is a constantly changing experience. The mood of your guests, and therefore the music they crave to hear, can change instantly! A good DJ recognizes these changes quickly (if not preemptively) and will adapt the music accordingly to meet the needs of your family and friends. I would think the last thing you want to do on your wedding day is to operate your iPod, or delegate this task to one of your untrained guests when the party begins to feel “off balance”. In a nut shell, the music at your “once-in-a-lifetime” event is too important to leave to chance, or non-professional.

15) When do I receive my contract for services?
15) You will receive your contract once you have paid your deposit either over the phone with a credit card, or after I receive your check in the mail. After I receive your deposit, I will mail you a contract, which you will sign, keep the bottom copy, and mail back the top copy to me.
